For sale: Raleigh Racing USA frame built circa 1984 for Connie Carpenter, who won the first ever Olympic road racing gold medal for women in 1984 (as well as many other races).

One Frame and Fork, used. Manufactured by Raleigh of England at Ilkestone. Made for Mike Fatka's Levis Raleigh team and purchased by me from Mike Fatka. 753 Reynolds tubing. 57.5 cm ctt as stamped under bottom bracket. Campagnolo front fork drop outs, drilled out. Campagnolo Horizontal Road Drop Outs, no adjusting screws. 74 degree seat angle approx., 74 degree head angle approx., 56 cm., c to c top tube approx. Number plate braze on. 2 water bottle braze ons. 3 braze on brake cable housing guides on top tube. Cinelli investment cast bottom bracket shell. What looks like a Cinelli fork crown with added drilled out fork tangs and cut outs.

Frame and Fork appear straight and true. There are paint scratches and chips, typical of being used. Paint and decals are original. There is normal wear from wheel insertion on dropouts . 126 mm rear dropout spacing. I have numerous phots available and can email them to you off list if you are interested.

I have never set up or ridden this frame myself, it's just too small for me. I have enjoyed looking at it, though. The craftsmanship on the frame build is very nice, although the paint is strangely sloppy. Mike Fatka's teams were the biggest thing going in the midwest back 20 years ago when I was racing -- Jeff Bradley, Greg Demgen, Ron Kiefel, Andy Hampsten, Roy Knickman, Thurlow Rogers, Nelson Vails, Steve Hegg, neoclassic frame builder Chris Kvale and of course Connie Carpenter all rode under his colors at one time or another.

If you are interested in this frame, please contact me off list. Thanks.
