For sale: RichardSachs, 57cm c-t with a 56.6 toptube, 2cm headtube extension built into the lug, 41.5cm chainstays, 16.2 setback (meaning relaxed angles and suitable for all day riding or racing or whatever you like), 8 drop bb, threadless Sachs steel fork (of course) with 2cm of spacer room. still left in the fork.> Price includes installed Chris King headset (perfect condition), and two stems: a120mm TTT mutant (which is more like a 130) and a 110 TTT Neo, both painted to match in blue by Joe Bell. Two matching blue Cuissi Elite cages too. $1900 plus shipping for this much.
Many of you have seen pictures of this bike before, its pearl white with a blue headtube, seattube panel, and decals with a few yellow accents. The heart lug windows are painted blue to match. The bike is immaculate: no scratches, dings, dents, no, it's all perfect.
So has Brooks got the venereal, as my student Steve Brown may have suggested inadvertantly last week on the iBOB? Ahhh...no, but I might look askance at as well at the notion of "venerable," in much the same way that "Mr. Brooks" is my late-father and "Dr. Brooks" makes me feel like you want a better grade on your exam. But just to set that record straight, neither am I venereous which the learned Mr Coffey tells us means "given to fleshly wantonnesse." Alas, my wantonnesse runs only towards bicycles...as you all know. The reason I am selling the bike is simple: my riding has changed over the years and I want a bigger bike. Richard has agreed to build me just such a bike which will effectively replace this one.
As for this one, it's hard to imagine a bicycle that ride this nicely and is
this beautiful, created with this much craft and experience evident in every
detail.

As noted, I would like $1900 for the frame, fork, Chris King headset, two painted to match stems, two matching Elite Ciussi cages. I would be willing to sell the whole bike minus saddle and post for $2800.
If you are interested in the whole bike, the parts are as follows: Record 8 speed Ergo shifters with Record Ti rear derailleur and Record front b/o derailleur, Mavic 631 170mm crankset 53/42 with some minor scuffing but nothing really of note, Phil Wood bb, Mavic single pivot brakes (madeby Modolo), handlebars are TTT Forma 42o-o, wheels are Campy Rec 8 speed rear hub laced to a newMA40 and Suntour XC 9000 front hub also on a 32h MA40 (new) with a new 13-26 8 speed Campy cassette (not sure, maybe Record, but nice all the same). No tires, no pedals, no saddle, no post. All the parts are in excellent condition except the brake pads which are just good. I think as a built bike it's surely worth another $900. If you want the frame, etc. and any selection of these parts I am sure we can reach an amacable agreement.
Shipping is not included. It will be $50 for f/f etc., or $65 for the whole bike by UPS ground. This is my cost and it will be done properly, guaranteed.
I can't wait to get another Sachs, one that fits me as I am now: older,
maybe a bit stiffer, but no less eager. My red Sachs (with Nervex Pro lugs
and a threaded stem) is most definitely _not_ for sale! I did a long,
wonderful beyond wonderful ride on it today with BOBpal Ray Sachs.
