A very nice 1941 Bates Vergrandis. This is complete with the original bates quotation, purchase receipt and Bates Brothers Club (BBC) card.
The frame is immaculate and the components are all per original spec, except the rims and tyres. The original owner wanted Dunlop stainless rims, but due to war time shortages had to take conloys. (this in the quotation) The bike now has Dunlop stainless rims. No pedals.
Red frame, with a full chrome headtube and fork. original Bates head badge. Duralite and Solite hubs. Reynolds Wingnuts. Cyclo oppy three speed. Simplex Elka chainset. Resilion Cantilevers front and back. Reynolds twin bolt aluminium stem and bars. Brooks saddle. Bluemels airweight aluminium fenders. 22" seat tube. Photographs are available.
