Finally, I got to see this movie. It has all the Hollywood tricks from the time.

Love interest, sports jokes like the guy who falls down and gets up and starts running (riding) the wrong way. In one of the crashes, the hero gets up and starts riding on his bike with supposedly bent wheels.

What they are, is what I have heard called "parade wheels," or "clown wheels." They are built off center, and in the movie it looks like about 6-7" off center, so the bike bucks up and down. Of course you would have to do it with a smaller rim, and a coaster brake or fixed gear since rim brakes would not work. Anybody ever seen a vintage pair of these? Or know how to build them?

It is interesting how six day racing things are shown in the movie, like a team rider dropping out slinging in a new rider, sleeping in the infield, primes, and of course the bikes. Things that probably would be missed by most people.
