Just found 15 8-speed cassettes for sale on e-bay, all Shima-NO. Richard Rose (Toledo, Ohio), just back from a hot 20 miler with 9-speed Campy.

Couldn't your friend just get Shimano downtube shifters ? They make a nice 9sp compatible set (with friction shifting option). Also a lot cheaper than $200 STI shifters.

I know that I'm beating a dead horst, but I just got a call from my buddy asking me how to convert his 8-speed Shimano setup to 9-speed.

I had him search the Internet and sure enough, all you need is a new cassette and a new chain.

AND $200 BUCKS WORTH OF NEW STI SHIFTERS!

All because 8-speed cassette aren't available any more.

Who needs drug dealers or The Mafia when we have Shimano?
