I didn't really think my post was a rant, even though there was a bit of an accusatory tone to it. I think this reply qualifies as a rant, however. I wouldn't demand that a company produce replacement parts for obsolete products into infinity. I just wanted to point out that some successful companies recognize that there is marketing and value to their traditions. With the possible exception of right alloy crank arms, Campy built the NR/SR group to last. It's too bad that Campy does not demonstrate that they value all their customers after the sale, and the rich heritage that they were so effective in creating. A lot of the stuff I am trying to keep going is stuff I bought new. I don't think its a stretch to think that a company would continue making consumable parts like rubber and bearings available for many years after the product itself goes out of production.

Since Campy probably didn't manufacture the rubber parts in house, do we know that the molds for these are gone? Maybe Uncle Guido still has them stashed in the back of the garage someplace.
