best list-related groundscore to date:

stronglight 57 drive side crankarm and rings, w/original hardware. fortunately for some bizarre reason i had the proper extractor with me, so i was able to remove it from whatever trashed french bike it was on (the other crankarm had been replaced.) brought it home, tossed it in the parts bin, forgot about it. earlier this year, decided i didnt need it, cleaned it up, and put it on ebay just for lark... $450+ later, off it went to japan. talk about good return on investment... sheesh!

ive got a pretty good toolkit from stuff found around town, everything from sockets and drill bits to a nice framing hammer... picnic basket, small wads of cash (nothing over $20 yet...), aquariums, piles of books, bike frames of various descriptions, campy wheels, shop rags galore, a barstool, chest of drawers, a 2 drawer file cabinet, all brought home on the bike... (in a trailer in the case of the chest and file cabinet) found a nice rolls saddle on a campy seatpost in zurich, plus some nice flat drawers that i brought home with me... a bread slicer in denmark, coffee machines, cast iron cookware...i could go on forever... i have a penchant for stopping to look in dumpsters :)

its a pity that here in sf they dont do the big trash pickup night anymore... that used to be an adventure all to itself...

and as for that paper bag of money... i know someone who found it once. $10k, paper bag, middle of the street. so theres hope!
