Subject: [CR]Astra

The Astra I owned had a fork with the Motobecane M on it, something I didn't connect until years after it was gone. I can't remember for sure if the componentry was Suntour...maybe it was Huret. I just remember that people freaked out when they saw the Brooks saddle....because it was so skinny and so hard. We rode in cut offs and sneakers, and paying homage to the Hippie creed, without underwear! I don't know what happened to the frame, but the wheels ended up in a "post modern' sculpture in my front yard. Interesting thing about the name Astra. Several years ago I was offered an Astra, but this one was from the 40's. French. Odd derailleur set up, fenders...I wasn't interested in it then. The guy wanted $60 for it....about the same amount I paid for the one I got when I started school at the U of A. I'd take either one, now, in a hearbeat.
