Subject: [CR]OIling Your Hubs

Two thoughts on oiling hubs. First, I always thought the small holes in the end dust caps on all my Campy hubs were for injecting grease directly into the bearing races. It sure seems to work on my hubs, whether it's designed for that or not. You don't have to take hubs apart, just inject grease directly with your Dual-Co gun, once a year. It always seemed to me that the middle-hole in the axle shaft was just for decoration. However, if you're going to use oil, why not try Stihl chain-saw oil? It's the stickiest thing around, it costs about $3 for a gallon, and if it'll protect a chain-saw bar it sure ought to work on bike bearings. It adheres, won't get slung off, and resists high temp[s, etc.
