as appealing as that sounds, I have to recommend against it. I bought a pair of wheels (with Campy Record hubs) from a fellow who had been doing exactly as you recommend. He never tore the hubs down to look inside. Well, when I disassembled them, it was apparent that the new grease was going in the little hole and right out around the axle. The new grease never did get in to the bearings, and never purged out the old grease to any extent. Not sure if it's related, but I had to replace one of the cups. The virtue of the oil hole in the middle of the hub is that new grease would be more likely to push the old grease out. Better to just take the hub apart, clean it up, and reassemble. Not that much work, especially if you just use new balls each time.
