Just a clarification that the 1956 Gran Sport/1967 Record pedals had steel cages, while the 1971 SL pedals introduced the black anodized aluminum cages, and the later Gran Sport pedals used (very soft) aluminum cages.
Hey Chuck, I think the cheaper Gran Sport pedals came out earlier than the 1980s - I had a pair on my 1978 Raliegh Competition G.S.
