Subject: [CR]Simplex frnt derail. identification please

Could any members help me to identify which model of a Simplex deraillleur a friend of mine has? I will attempt to describe it, and I have a jpeg of it if any would be so kind as to be shot a jpeg in helping to identify it.

It has an armature (handle) for moving from the bigger to smaller chainwheel. It would be operated by hand or foot (I don't know which). The cage is like a Campy Gran Sport, secured with a bolt onto the handle armature which continues to run next to the clamping band and a housing. Between the cage and the housing, there is a hollow steel piece that looks as if something goes through it. Was there a cam-device or spring inside the housing for securing it on one chainwheel or the other?

On the cage is marked "Simplex Brevete S.G.D.G"

Thank you.

Cheers.

Tom
