The stays are part of a perfectly triangulated structure and the loads on the back end of a bike are so far below the theoretical strength of the structure that it almost doesn't matter what you use for stays. And the BB shell has much more effect on percieved stiffness than the seat stay. Phil brown In real hot NoHo, ca
