It's been a while since I did it - but once upon a time I actually held a Valentino FD in one hand and a (nuovo) Gran Sport in the other (I must admit that the GS was mounted on a bicycle) and my recollection is that they were in fact identical. Also, when I've compared that Valentino FD to _pictures_ of older generation Gran Sport FDs, they certainly look the the same, other than little details like the adjusting screws. But if someone residing near me has the GS parts, I can always go down to the dungeon, dig out that '74 Valentino and we can make some comparisons and them post them to the list.
