Was a Liberia a french bike? I think it was. The reason this name came to mind is that the fenders that came on my '65 Cinelli, before I acquired the bike, were given to a fellow that worked in the Detroit bike shop I worked in, as payment for doing an overhaul on the Cinelli. The previous owner of the Cinelli was more into racing and didn't care for the fenders. My colleague from the back room shop area had a better eye for that, and gladly took the fenders in a transaction before I began to work in the shop, and put them on his Liberia. I wonder if he still has either? I bet there are many stories out there of parts off bikes, or even whole bikes now considered collectables that were tossed or given away.
