Hi gang, Many moons ago I went to Europe by myself and bicycled ( on my 1960'sAllegro) from Frankfurt into Switzerland( met Arnold Grangean owner of Allegro). I then headed by bike to Leichenstein( met the head honcho at the time of their Olympic team who let me ride in the lead car of a raceand photo the race) and Austria, then took a train to Stockholm with a friend and bicycled to his house in Helsingborg( southern Sweden) then I bicycled on to Denmark( ah the wind), Holland, caught a boat to Manchester England cycled up to Edinburgh. caught another boat to Ireland (Ballygally stoney town and oh so GREEN) went thru Belfast of tanks and road blocks, cycled down to Cork( found some Guiness) in a round about way, crossed over to Swansea,Wales( steepest roads, made my 52-42, 14-31 hop each time I cranked, made for Roman wagons) and then cycled to London, then trained down to Dover caught another boat( pre-tunnel) to Calais then roller-coaster cycled ( got to 100 mile days) thru France, mistrals, heat and ( Van Gogh I see ya) Sunflowers( 150 mile plus was my fat day) to San Sebastian, Spain then trained over to norhtern Italy where I attacked the Alps and hit several passes with snow.Sceaming down the roads passing cars and ungluing my sew-ups( too much braking I learned). I got 1 flat the whole trip and 3 days of rain, summer of 1976. Caught a train to frankfurt and flew home. Ah to be 22 years old again. Craig Griffith San Luis Obispo,ca.
