Subject: RE: [CR]"Modern" rims?

I'm using the Sun CR-18 rims for my period Jack Taylor fixed though not entirely happy with them esthetically. They're angular in a section that wasn't available too long ago, and wider in section than I was looking for. If I were running standard 36 spokes, I'd try to find an older MAVIC rim. These seem to be fairly easy to find. But I've got a 40 hole ASC hub on the back and I'm stuck finding a lighter weight older style cross section rim with 40 holes. I'd really like to find something like the old MA40 available in 32-40 holes. Just dreaming I guess.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a currently manufactured 700c clincher rim that looks somewhat legit/believable for the bikes we love? I'm thinking MA-3s but I'm not crazy about the machined sides. This is for a rider, not a show bike, so I don't feel the need to source and use up ever rarer vintage rims.
