Subject: [CR]perhaps the only pop video featuring classic bicycles .....

Hello all,

Whilst restlessly "surfing" the idiot box i chanced upon a video played on VH1 Classics of The Style Council. The song was "my ever changing moods" and the video has both Paul Weller and Mick Talbot on very classic rides and im almost certain that both the song and the bikes are within the Cr cut off period.

Even cooler is that they ride throughout the whole video on some narrow english country lanes in a race. Lame story/plot, passable riding (mostly on a dolly) but very cool jersey's. Mick wears the classic Raleigh long sleeve in yellow/black/red and stringback gloves and Paul wears a very smart a (something)-flex Torpado jersey in blue/red/white. Long tights and autumn weather (could well be summer?). They even stop for lunch - banana's :-) but are interupted by maidens/faeries (?). Sprint finish ...

Hard to make out the bikes although i think Paul is riding a Raleigh (if i correctly spotted the head badge) with centrepulls but its black and have never seen a fully painted black Raleigh. Mick is riding a yellow frame that has a makers label on the seat tube although his legs obscured it (sorry dont own a VCR) although i thought the first 3 letters were Cro.... not 100% (perhaps a condor).

Sure, its not of any real significance but the bicycles (and them racing) is the main theme and im sure i have never seen another pop video with that as a feature. Having been a fan of the Jam which was Paul Weller's previous band and also quite liking the music of The Style Council (although it was quite different) i am sure that i had watched this video in my teens when i was riding everyday on my Mercian (which had reynolds 501 tubes and i always thought it was french as it sounded so and also had simplex derailleurs). The fact that i have no memory of it from that time may say something about the time between then and now.

Just wondering if anyone else may have seen or remembers the Video. I wouldnt go out and buy it but the song is well worth a listen to.

ahhh youth .....
