Just something I happened upon while working on a bike in a midnight shift stupor: How to ensure the balls weren't falling out of the fixed cup while I got the adjustable cup installed? I greased up the fixed cup, installed the ball bearings, slipped the spindle in place and clamped it fast with a small hose clamp. (like you'd use on 3/8" fuel hose) Now I could screw the whole thing in as an assembly and not have pieces falling out. Worked so well I might have to try it when fully conscious. A little tape or whatever between clamp and cup might prevent marring aluminum cups if that's a concern. Just thought my fellow amateur mechanics might appreciate this. PS: put dust shield in the first time! ; )
