Actually, I think the Victory gruppo was not bad stuff at all. You might even argue that it was Campy's first real success at making a less-than-top-line gruppo that was consistently good quality. And the smaller bolt circle did allow a wider range of chainrings. (Too bad the bolt circle didn't match anything made later). Some would argue that the earlier Nuovo Grand Sport gruppo found on the Raleigh Competition GS was a good quality second-line Campy group, but the Nouvo GS rear derailleur was a real weak link, nowhere near the quality of the original Grand Sport, and a lot of people probably didn't like a three-arm crankset. Of course there is no way that Victory stuff is original on that frame, which by the way is one of those with Brampton direct seatstays in mink blue and silver, (mid 70"s?) that I've coveted for years. But as usual, when I see one at a reasonable price, it's at least 2" too big.
