Erik Siverson Subject: I have a Raleigh with Nervar - Star - alloy cranks. I have seen mostly Nervar cottered crank sets, and only a few of these all alloy ones. What is the concensis as to the quality of Nervar alloy cranks? Do the chainwheels interchange with any other makes? <snip>

I've owned bunches of Nervar cotterless cranks (at one point had so many I used 3 rights on a tandem, with helicoils to convert two to lefts for crossover drive). I always had the sense that Nervar cotterless were the major OEMs "court of last resort." If Stronglight, TA, etc were unavailable, buy a few hundred Nervars... Could be wrong.

But, wait! there's worse news: The 5-arm Nervars took 128 mm bolt circle rings. Stronglight 63 - 93 - 105 were smaller (124) and Shimano were larger (130). (the 5-pin seem to take TA rings, as I recall).

In my stash, I have 4 left crank arms, each with a different design. I have one right (which matches one left). Yell if you need a left; we can work something out.
