I don't think the seller is serious about selling this tandem, or at least he's not realistic. This is one of those things that is indeed rare, but so too is the potential buyer. There is some demand for tandems for touring and a much smaller demand for tandems for track racing, but how many people really want a full-on road racing tandem? Does the UCI ever recognize road tandem racing? It's my understanding that tandem raod events go on in England, but I'm not even certain how common that is. Of course, the idea of a massed start criterium has is intriguing, as long as I'm a spectator. Add to the small demand the fact the tandems need to match not one, but two riders and the prospects for selling a 57x57 raod racing tandem, complete with tubulars and narrow-range gears, start to seem very slim. I'd say the $5000 reserve on this one is about twice the worth of the bike. On the other hand, the seller might make a mint on the brake calipers. Tom Dalton David Whalley wrote:Hi all..

Time to come out of lurk mode. Sorry if this one's been covered but I hadn't seen any emails on it so...

Looking around yesterday at the cool bikes I can't afford and I saw this one. Colnago Super Tandem w/ italian bits and pieces. I never knew that Colnago made Tandems! Anyone have any insights into this one? The seller says it was 1 of 8 imported into the US. I guess that explains the reserve. Great list!
