Did anyone else on the list have to take the cycling proficiency test at school in England? (On a lugged steel bike of course...) If so do you still have the little triangular enamelled lapel badge? You couldn't ride your bicycle to school until you passed the test.

I lost my badge years ago; wish I still had it... ----------- Took my test in 1960, I think, at 7, on a BSA 3 speed SA, with a dropped top-tube to accomodate my (then) short legs. The bike is gone, and so is the badge. About the same time, I remember taking a swimming test, yearly, which increased in severity. This gave free access to the public pools.
