Having read what I wrote to Bob about mitering top tubes I can see a few points of confusion comming up, so I'll try to nip them in the bud.

No, you cannot miter a tube using a scrap of head tube 6" plus long. I meant to say in addition, "as a check of the fit of your head tube miter". Then I prodeeded to tell him how to make the tube in the first place. A little backwards, I'm sorry. It might also be helpful to know that a bevel protractor is used to check the angle as I mentioned, and that the combination of checking the fit and the angle are used to arrive at the miter for the head tube. The piece of headtube with lines scribed on it is actually a "framebuilding tool" in this case as it aids in checking the in plane of the miter also.

I hope that makes more sense.
