Hello folks. Back on list after a break.

What is your "best ever" deal on a bike?

I think I just made mine.

Originally a special order by a swedish racer in Italy it was used for two or three seasons and then was sat aside for a new bike. Sold to a friend of the racer. Was not used until last year when modern pedals and saddle were mounted. Owner got some punctured sew ups. Thought it was to expensive to rebuild wheels for clinchers. Bike ended up in the garage. I show up.

A Colnago Super 1980-81. My size (59). Red with white panels on all three maintubes. A few very small nicks in the paint. SR-group with panta seatpost (NR) and stem. -80 on rear derr and a zero in a circle on crankarms. Flite saddle and LOOK pedals. Original saddle and pedals (ti axels) came with it along with a complete, almost unused SR crankset, 172,5. The extra crankset is the originally mounted but the racer found it to short and substituted it for 175: s (same year marking). Funny thing is that he changed the whole crankset - Ti BB, rings and arms. The big ring pantagraphed.

What did it cost?

2000 swedish kronor (215 USD)

There must be a god somewhere out there.

Regards Johan Ericson Stockholm, Sweden PS Before anyone starts blaming me for bad ethics, not informing the guy more, I have to mention that here in Sweden there is NO market (exept for me and maybe one or two more guys) for old race bikes - they are just considered "old race bikes".
