With Jan's (and others) input we've learned quite a bit about the likes of Rene Herse and Alex Singer touring bikes on here lately. And with these 2 companies considered to be at the top of the scale it makes me wonder what other French touring bikes are out there that aren't at the top. From what I understand there was a demand for tourers (and camping bikes) back when cars were just too expensive for many families to own. I can't imagine that these families all bought Alex Singers (if so, where are all those bikes now ?!?) - So my question is what other makes were there ? What bikes fell in the next price range down for example ? And the one's below those ? And below those ? ... If you look at Italian racing bikes for instance, you see a variety of makes/models available at all price levels (even some from the same companies). Was this true of the French touring bikes ?
