John LeeWong asked the value of Austro-Daimler Superleicht Ultimas, for a friend. One is all SR, the other NR.

Obviously, the market for these is very "thin," since there aren't many transactions. There doesn't seem to be much of a cult for the A-D offerings, with the possible exception of the Vent Noir. But, here is one data point:

A month of so ago, I bought a Vent Noir (Dura-Ace) and an Ultima Super-Leicht through the local club news letter. The asking price was $625 for the pair. I would describe the condition as very good plus: Original paint, but with some nicks and some decal damage. Almost all original parts except wear items (saddle, freewheel). Spare pair of DuraAce wheels on Weinmann Concaves. And, most unusual, complete decals (I think they are complete) for both bikes, and the original receipts.

Here's another data point: I offered the VN to the list for $450. It did not sell. Now I like it too much to sell. And I might have learned a thing or two about my instincts in business...

Once note of caution: My Ultima seems to be 74 degree parallel, 57 cm c-t, and 56 cm top tube. It has as much toe interference (about 2 cm) as any bike I can remember riding. Great ride, but maybe not the best choice for congested urban commuting...
