Hi Chris, From the last go round on this subject I think I learned that the Dural Forge was an earlier version of the Racer. It differed, other than the obvious name change, in that it had a bronze bushing for the main pivots while the later Racers had the more commonly seen red "nylon". The Competitions, which also have the bronze bushing, were primarily different in reach length BUT the Comp's generally shorter reach was accomplished by having shorter arms (than the Racer/Dual Forge). Where it got interesting was when it was revealed there were several different versions of reach for each of these models. The differences were accomplished via the back mounting plate. In fact the back mounting plates were a purchaseable part. So one could buy a Dural Forge or Racer or Competition in different reach lengths or the purchased reach length could be adjusted via replacing the back plates. I have photos of most of the Mafac brakesets and table from Sutherlands, (I think) giving dimensions and part numbers for complete brakes if anyone wants please contact me off list. I cant tell you which came first - DF or Comp or when any came into being.
