I think the full Campagnolo bike was named "Super Corsa". I have been meaning to contact a friend of mine who had (has?), one, that is probably nearly pristine. This was one of the very first "high end" bikes that I ever saw, around 1974? The bike was the famous orange color with foil stickers. Everything on that bike was Campy. The name must have appeared about 60 times on the bike if you took the time to count. It was very cool. Richard Rose (Toledo, Ohio)

Roy,

I have a catalog at home, and my memory is not great. If we don't get the definitive answer today I'll report tomorrow. That being said the "Tour de France" was the second model down and it was comparable to the Peugeot PX-10. Sometimes however, they would come with Campy Nuevo Tipo hubs instead of the Maillard. I have a 25" example in my garage. The top of the line model, "The Name Escapes Me" had Campy Nuevo Record, but I'm not sure about the brakes perhaps they had two (2) options. IMHO (or IMWO) these bikes appeared to be better finished than the Peugeots. I am not talking about the paint, but rather the brazing. Perhaps it is easier to braze the Prugnat style lugs than Nervex? The stays on my bike are nicely, except the treatment of the cap for the seat stays. The workmanship on the seat stays is fine, but the style seems odd to me. It is half way between being plain like a Schwinn Paramount and crimped.

Regards,

Jim " I like foil stickers" Narlesky San Jose, CA
