Eric, I still use both. I prefer the 5500 just because I like drops. I am also able to run with 26 teeth where I can only use 24 with the 6600. I have to pull my wheel back a little more in the dropouts but the 5500 shifts 26 fine. I'm not a big triple guy so I can't expound on the capacities of the long cages but I have seen both models with long cages. You gotta love the double pivot springs on the Simplex's. My favorite for least amount of noise is a Simplex Criterium. As far as shifting...........they shift better than a Campy, or so I think. One sweet derailleur that really shifts well (and better than its more expensive counterparts) is the Campy 980.
