Steven -

I think this is fairly typical of eBay auctions of late, particularly for this type of bicycle. I've been watching this particular bike with some interest, but no real commitment, and I suspect there are quite a few others in the same situation. A bike with not as much "cache" as some other marques, relatively recently refinished, and recently assembled from a mix of components. Not my (and probably other's) preferred choice as a collectable. With a "buy it now" price of $895 and still ten hours to go, I suspect there are several potential bidders waiting and watching. Why run up the bid and show your hand so early in the game? I anticipate the reserve to be slightly less that the "buy it" price, and I expect to see some last minute bidders, hoping to snag it before the price tops out. Or better yet, be high bidder but slightly under reserve so as to be in a better position to negotiate a sale after the auction ends. Personally, I think the bike is worth about $700/800 tops, but that's just me. Anyone else care to speculate on the desirability and value of this particular bike (now that I've completely tipped MY hand)?
