David and others, Try the the D 'Allessandro Speciale. Heringbone tread, cream sidewalls, and a red/white/green label. About or under $20US/ea at my LBS in CT. If you can't find them locally, I believe either Nashbar or Performance has them for under $20.
These tires should be good for 1k-2k miles on the rear and 2x-3x that in the front.
