In the mid-seventies I had a couple who rode cheap blue Bianchis with sewups as customers in my shop in Austin. The bikes were their only transportation and they rode all the time. Their tires of choice: Hutchinson Sprint Butyls with fifty pounds of pressure, not a pound more. They never, never, never, ever had flats. They rode the tires until the tread wore through. Could never figure that one out. Each time they came in the shop we looked at the tires in amazement.
