Keep in mind that post is mystery metal. It's a rather crude looking Campy copy (Lambert maybe?) and might be weak metal. It's probably pretty thick, but you can't tell that from the auction.

I've seen posts that were milled about that much and didn't break though. My #1 road bike has a 2-bolt Super Record that I lathe turned on a taper starting just above where it leaves the frame. The slots are completely gone. Did that maybe 20 years ago.
