I remember being at an LAW Rally years ago and had an opportunity to ride with Keith Kingbay of Schwinn. We discussed at great length the bike he was riding which was a curved seat tube chrome Paramount. He told me it was designed for the 1968 Olympics specifically for the Time Trial Team events.

With the shorter rear the rider behind could snuggle up closer to the rider in front thereby reducing wind resistance.

Might be true....Might not.

If I recall correctly, there was a Schwinn Paramount in the early to mid 80's with a curved seat tube. I think Schwinn advertised this a providing quick cornering, perhaps aimed at criterium riders,
