Like Chuck said, a 41t is the smallest, but there's a tiny bit of contact. The standard small was a 42t. If you'd like a 41t, sources are Bicycle Classics http://www.bicycleclassics.com/chainrin.html and Harris <http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/chainrings.html#144>. If you need even lower, there's triple adapter rings available, too.
