First my most humble apology for misspelling Hampsten. Second you all owe me a debt of gratitude for supplying such cheap humor at my own expense.

It is amazing how distorted history can get in a group conversation. Especially in a paceline. All versions of Andy's name were offered and we were not sure of his record except for the Giro. No one could agree on the year (we were however +- 3 years) but everyone remembered the glorious victory in the snow. It was a turning point in many of our lives, encouraging us to ride harder, farther and for some even to race.

Several of us remembered the Huffy all though few, if any of us suspected it was a Serrotta. One rider thought it would be cool to have a 7/11 Jersey (If any one has any good ideas where to look please reply off post). Not all of us are older and the younger riders were eager to hear more of this fabulous American rider. They know Armstrong, they may have heard of Lemond but Hampsten is news to them. I will personally try to rectify this.

My thanks to all who responded to "whatever happened to Andy Hampstead (sic) ?" I will use my slapstick spelling royalties to take a Cinghiale Cycling Tour.
