The photos of this for this auction reminded me of the Italian
affinity for dimpled rims. It strikes me that these could be
found on quality Italian bikes long after everyone else had
abandoned them for use on mid and high-end bicycles.
Did the Italian bike industry really view them as superior
(even in the late '50s and '60s) or did they merely have an
immense supply to use up?
