The serial # on my Eisentraut Limited is: 76L 645 Or it might be (76L 845?) There is an oval with the some letters (P O?) stamped on the top of this bottom bracket on the left side.

The serial # on the "Everest" bottom bracket of my Rainbow Trout Eisentraut is: E540899, so he did change his numbering scheme on the (semi) mass produced bikes.

Both bikes are stamped with very small letters, only about an 1/8th of an inch tall. The Limited is stamped on the front of the BB near the down tube. The Rainbow is stamped on the back of the BB between the chain stays.

Don't know about the bike but I did ask the seller about the serial number, and told him to look at the bottom of the BB. His response was:

it's faint, but looks like: 77_885

My '73 Eisentraut has a serial number that begins with E020973, with the 73 indicating the year. I got an email response from Albert that verified the year of my serial number was '73.

However, It's possible that he changed his numbering scheme. Ben Sanford

The Ebay bike looks correct to me, but I can't be sure with those lousy pics. The fork crown and the rack mount on the rear drop out look the same as my on my Eisentraut Limited. My Limited has three little triangles cut out of the top of the Nervex lugs. If it has those, it should be a real Traut.

It's amazing how little good information some sellers have about their bikes on Ebay. This recent sale of an Eisentraut was particularly bad: http://ebay.com/<blah>
