My '79 Team Pro 753 also takes a (tight) 26.8 mm post. As I mentioned earlier, the Raleigh Team Pro frameset literature stated 27.0 as the post size.

Part of the issue here is that there is "early" 753, and there is 753R. The early tubing was Metric-diameter only from what I understand, requiring about a 26.6 to 27.0 post, whereas the 753R was Imperial (inch) diameter only I think. My 60cm Merckx 753R takes a (tight) 27.2 post.

So I guess 753 can require anywhere from 26.6 to 27.4 mm, depending on what it is - sounds pretty much like the 531DB range, but shifted up 0.2 mm...
