I agree with H.M. & S.S. Sachs on the weight issue - better to lose the fat (and clean those heavy, heavy, ounces of dirt from the bike. hahaha) As I am not technically smart, my interest in the Ti spindle was from a durability and performance perspective - does is acutally provide a better and more durable bearing rolling surface. From the reply, I understand these factors to be equal to steel. Richard Cielec Chicago, Illinois "H.M. & S.S. I would be interested with installing one to my International. So, the usual stream of questions: these axles currently avail. new, over the counter? how can I identify titanium vs. non-titanium? When approx. when was ti spindle introduced?

The Ti spindle will not attract a magnet. It will save about one oz relative to steel (I actually weighed both at one point). $/avoided weight is usually too high to mess with, IMHO.
