I think the "green" Loctite the original post was referring to is the retaining compound RC-680. It's meant to secure slip fit parts, such as a bearing installed on a shaft that can't tolerate an interference fit due to thermal expansion. I've used it before to cure ill-fitting crown races and cups, and for oversized bores in cartridge bearing hubshells.
