I've talked to a couple of people who say they've traveled the world with their pedals installed finger tight. That's good for them and I wish them continued luck. Pedal wrenches are normally 12" to 16" long for a good reason. Properly tightened (you do not need a cheater bar or Hercules with the right wrench), your pedals should not unscrew by themselves. As an aside, some people feel the need to tighten BB fixed cups to the point that you need a VAR cup tool to take them out. IME, they don't need to be any tighter than what you can manage with a Campy hand tool, to stay. (Yes, I grease the threads) A tool you can make that is a very helpful addition: A washer larger than the fixed cup hole in the Campy wrench, with a nut welded to it and a bolt with a head or spacer bigger than the axle hole in the cup. The "washer" is used to hold the wrench tight and square on the cup, by inserting the "bolt" into the bb and tightening the washer against the wrench. This allows you to "tap" the wrench with a hammer if necessary (for removal, not installation), and keeps it from slipping and damaging the paint. Stevan Thomas Alameda, CA
