I use an original Suntour Superbe that dates to about 1977 on a 7 speed freewheel. I'll go no further but it indexes after a fashion too.

are the same width as standard spaced 6 speed freewheels of the NR era. If
the cage spring is "tired" you could find it sluggish shifting to the small
cog though!
