I'm a little embarrassed to say I was using the SR with a Shimano 7 speed cassette and Sachs chain.

Hey, it was a b-bike commuter. The SR derailleur, Suntour barcons and Dian-compe NGC 400's added necessary classic content. The frame was a cro-mo lugged steel Norco or something. I got hit by a van and his insurance bought my wife a new Lemond. I bought the wrecked bike back from the insurance company for $100 and got the parts back off of it. Nice deal, that one.
