I really like the early Kleins that had boron reinforced frames, Fiamme Ergal rims, Pino skewers and long cage Jubilee gears. The unpardonable thing Klein did was to put square section chainstays on his mountain bikes. Bikes got really ugly in the late 80s and early 90s and this was the beginning.

Another villain instrumental in the decline of the classic road bike was Greg LeMond. He used clip-ons in the Tour and a suspension fork in Paris-Roubaix.
