With all the discussion about polishing compounds, waxes, etc. I thought the following clarification about Loctite would not be too far off topic.

Loctite makes a number of thread locking / adhesive products. The strongest, "red" (I think #078, "Stud and Bearing Mount") would be ideal for the Bianchi headset application and far superior to Superglue as Stevan has pointed out.

The middle grade which is most commonly used in bike applications, #242, "Blue" thread locking, is supplied by Phil Wood as the locking compound for BB mounting rings.

Loctite "green" #290 is a penetrating sealer, it will penetrate by capillary action and lock threads after assembly.

Loctite has 100s of other products and their website is http://www.loctite.com/, you can download datasheets and stuff.

Vintage bike content : I use Loctite somewhere on most of my vintage bikes!

That would be far preferable to SuperGlue! Stevan "Bianchi Boy" Thomas Alameda, CA
