Well, after almost a week on the road and Govt Red Tape, I have fetched up in my new digs in Eatontown, NJ in Monmouth County. I'm about 20 miles south from Staten Island NY, and only a stone's throw (relatively speaking) from the Jersey Shore. Also, after several hours of bad language and local micro brew beer, the back up computer finally logged onto the internet. (Try the River Horse special Ale, not bad!)

I was going to ride this weekend, but of course the eastern seaboard got slammed with the worst snow storm in decades as soon as I got here. Amazing what fate will do for the sole purpose of harrassing me. Too bad, as I just got the fenders on the Raliegh International hot rod, and was looking forward to knocking out the local eyes.

So are there any good, vintage friendly shops in the area? Any outstanding rides to do? (Sandy Hook looks like a must, but wait for a calm day!) I see that I just missed the NY City club meeting featuring Medicis, but I'm still intimidated about travelling into the big city, especially with a bike on the car. (Bulletin on the mugger alert system: "Midwestern Rube with valuable bike spotted, crossing into town from Jersey shore! All units converge!") I look forward to mingling with the east coast brethren, and making a few swap meets.

See you on the road.

Tom Adams, formerly of Kansas City, now a Jersey guy.
