As a matter of fact, I was looking in the Legnano / Emilio Bozzi early 1950s catalog last night and saw those sewup rims for the first time; made by Ambrosio, they look like a sewup version of a Weinmann concave clincher rim.
(Must have been a marketing driven design concept as it didn't survive in the marketplace ;)
