Charles,

I have tried a few different standard paint strippers on aluminum. They did not stain the aluminum in my case. The brand I settled on was Jasco.

I recently scored a panto'd seatpost that needs to have the highlighting paint stripped off, and then I'll repaint it the correct colors.

My question is this (I should know this, but I don't): will paint remover stain the aluminum of the post? It's a Campy post, early 70s vintage. If I use the less toxic citrus remover, will it leave the aluminum alone and just remove the paint?

I don't want to paint over the old paint. It'll look better if I strip the old paint off and start over.

Thanks for any help you can provide?
